Lee Seung Gi is a South Korean singer, actor, host, and entertainer. Known as the "Ballad Prince", Lee has had numerous hit songs such as "Because You're My Woman", "Will You Marry Me", and "Return". He has garnered further recognition as an actor and rose to international popularity around Asia with leading roles in popular dramas. Lee is a descendant of the Yi clan of Jeonju. The clan ruled the Joseon Dynasty (Modern Day Korea).

Lee graduated from Dongguk University obtaining his degree in International Trade and Commerce on February 20, 2009 and received a Special Achievement Award during graduation. He then continued his studies obtaining two master's degrees, Trade Theory as well as Finance and Cultural Contents at Dongguk Graduate School.

He was a member of the first season of the weekend variety show "1 Night 2 Days" from November 2007 to February 2012, and the host of the talk show "Strong Heart" from October 2009 to April 2012. Lee was nominated and awarded the Grand Award (Daesang) at the 2018 SBS Entertainment Awards for SBS variety show Master in the House. He became the youngest entertainer who win the Grand Award (Daesang).

Lee's success as a singer, actor, and host earned him the title "Triple Threat" entertainer. He was first included in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2010 placing seventh, subsequently ranking fourth in 2011 and sixth in 2012 and 2015. The success of his television dramas throughout Asia established him as a top Hallyu star.

On February 1, 2016, Lee began his 21 months of mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier, he was a member of the 13th Special Forces Brigade Black Panther, Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command serving as a military intelligence specialist. He was formally discharged on October 31, 2017.

Lee has been selected as one of the 200 actors (100 males and 100 females) to feature in the Korean actors 200 campaign, run by the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). He was also included in the list of Highest paid Korean actors in 2021 placing fourth.

The actor debuted in June 2004 and has been with Hook Entertainment for 17 years, when on May 24, 2021 the agency announced that he would be leaving to establish his own company. His exclusive contract with Hook Entertainment would be terminated on May 31, 2021.

Through the actor's agency, it was confirmed on May 24, 2021, that he is dating fellow actress Lee Da In.

On June 1, 2021, Lee Seung Gi established his own production company called Human Made. For one of its programs, the company has prepared a performance exclusively for Moment House Japan which features a hybrid of documentary and live performance content. Lee took part in the production of the show as its executive producer starring Korean-American Rapper Jessi.

On June 10, 2021, Hook Entertainment shared that they joined hands with Lee Seung Gi’s new agency Human Made. In Hook Entertainment's announcement they stated, "..On June 10, Hook Entertainment shared that they joined hands with Lee Seung Gi’s new agency Human Made...Lee Seung Gi wishes to break the existing framework and actively communicate with domestic and overseas fans through independent and creative activities in a wider and diverse field. He is preparing to take on such a challenge through his newly established one-man agency Human Made...In addition, we signed a management contract with Lee Seung Gi, and decided to continue to support his active work as a singer, actor, MC, and all-around entertainer as we have done for the past 17 years..."

In March 2022, Lee released a Human Made original mini documentary series about food and music titled Human Table on the global platform YouTube under the channel name HUMANMADE.

On December 1, 2022 he forwarded a notice to terminate his contract with Hook Entertainment. He then sued the CEO and directors and Hook Entertainment for embezzlement and fraud.

On December 29, 2022 it was announced that he has signed with Human Made, the one-man agency he established in June 1, 2021.

He and actress Lee Da In got married on April 7, 2023.
